School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering

The School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering at Liaocheng University was established in 2002, created from the 1974 Department of Chemistry at Liaocheng Teachers’ College. Currently it includes two departments: Department of Chemistry and Department of Chemical Engineering. The Shandong Provincial Key Laboratory of Chemical Energy Storage and Novel Cell Technology and the Shandong Provincial Key discipline of Analytical Chemistry are affiliated with the School. The chemistry discipline ranked in the first 1% by ESI (Essential Science Indicators) Rankings of Institution in Chemistry，which is the first-class discipline in Shandong province.

Currently, there are 110 full-time faculty members and staff in the School, including 22 professors and 35 associate professors. There are 2200 students in the School, including 100 post graduate students in Master’s programs.

The School is dedicated to provide a sound undergraduate education in a balanced and broad-based field of basic chemistry, applied chemistry and chemical engineering. The School offers an innovative curriculum that focuses on laboratory experience and modern teaching techniques, supported by an excellent teaching and research infrastructure.

The School is actively engaged in fundamental and applied research in Basic Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, Chemical and Energy Engineering, supported by the National Major Basic Research (973) One Pre-program and one Sub-program, more than 80 projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China and more than 80 projects from the Natural Science Foundation of Shandong Province. Strong support from the Government and the University, together with various additional funding, allows the School to maintain a high level facility for advanced research and teaching. Beyond the traditional research themes in Basic and Applied Chemistry, many interdisciplinary research programs such as Surface Electrochemistry, Nanochemistry, Chemical Biology, Chemistry in Energy, and Advanced Materials are ongoing in the School. Areas of research at the School have been published in several prominent journals. State-of-the-art facilities like STM, AFM, TEM, SEM, XPS, SECM, X-ray crystal diffractometer and NMR (400 MHz) are available.
